Recruiting Process
A Personalized Recruiting Process Built Around the Athlete
Every athlete has a different background, timeline, skill level, academic profile, and goal. The recruiting process should reflect those differences.
Step by Step
Nine Steps From First Conversation to Ongoing Guidance
- 01
Initial Consultation
The process begins with a conversation about the student-athlete's sport, experience, academics, graduation year, goals, concerns, and current recruiting situation.
- 02
Athlete Information Review
The athlete and family provide information about athletic experience, competition level, position or event, statistics, video, academics, college preferences, and recruiting goals.
- 03
Athletic Evaluation
The athlete's current abilities, strengths, development areas, experience, and potential competition level are reviewed.
- 04
Recruiting Readiness Assessment
The athlete's current recruiting preparation is reviewed, including their timeline, athletic résumé, video, academics, college research, and communication readiness.
- 05
Personalized Recruiting Plan
A strategy is created based on the athlete's sport, level, graduation year, academics, goals, location preferences, and family needs.
- 06
College Research
Families receive guidance on researching colleges and athletic programs that may be a suitable athletic, academic, personal, and financial fit.
- 07
Communication Preparation
The student-athlete receives guidance on presenting themselves professionally and communicating appropriately with coaches and college representatives.
- 08
Admissions Planning
The family receives support understanding academic requirements, applications, deadlines, documents, and admissions expectations.
- 09
Ongoing Review
The strategy can be reviewed as the athlete develops, receives responses, updates video, changes goals, or progresses through the college planning process.
Preparation
Materials Matter Throughout the Process
Video, statistics, academic records, and an organized athletic résumé help college programs understand an athlete quickly. Part of the process is helping families prepare and update those materials as the athlete develops.
College Bound Student Athletics provides evaluation, education, planning, and recruiting guidance. College admission, athletic recruitment, scholarships, roster placement, financial aid, and playing opportunities are determined by colleges and athletic programs and cannot be guaranteed.
